Event Description
In programs designed for all ages, musicians of the Rochester Symphony will be sharing their music in a series of small group appearances. By talking about the instruments and demonstrating them individually and together, the performers will give attendees insight into how music is made and how to listen to live performance. There will be plenty of time for questions and interaction as well!
On May 7th, musicians will show the vast differences in materials and playing technique that exists in the woodwind family of instruments. Whether the sound is created by blowing or buzzing, the materials used (metal, wood, cane reeds, etc) all play into the variety that comes from this group. Hear music from the UK, France, and the Americas as the musicians perform excerpts from the concert they will perform later that evening.
Musicians appearing include:
Erica Bennett Duggan, flute
Allen Bishop, oboe
Karen Hansen, clarinet
Kate Saumur, bassoon
Corey Henke, horn
